TransACT buys Neighbourhood Cable
2007-Dec-19, 10:00 pm
IN BRIEF | Canberra-based TransACT has purchased Victorian regional telco Neighbourhood cable.
Both companies are unusual in that they have built their own "last mile" infrastructure in their respective regions, allowing them to bypass Telstra completely and provide unique services.
"The acquisition will enable us to provide our services to over 200,000 homes and Neighbourhood Cable customers will now have access to TransACT's popular product bundling options, including our mobile phone service, TransMOBILE", said TransACT CEO John Mackay.
"Importantly, the acquisition positions us well to actively contribute to the Federal Government's national broadband agenda as both companies have extensive telecommunications infrastructure in their regions", he added.
