Telstra to provide ADSL at 211 more exchanges
2007-Oct-11, 11:00 am
IN BRIEF | Telstra will enable a further 211 regional exchanges for ADSL broadband as part of a funding deal with the Federal Government.
The Herald Sun reports that Telstra will receive "as much as $98 million" of funding from the Australian Broadband Guarantee program to complete the work.
"I see this as a significant breakthrough and I welcome Telstra and the Government working together for the benefit of potentially thousands of consumers who'll get ADSL for the first time", Senator Coonan told the paper.
But Telstra said that the work could have been completed earlier if the DCITA had not dramatically changed the rules under which the ABG operated.
